The Kansas Association of Teacher Educators (ATE-K) announces our annual Distinguished Dissertation award. This $250 award is to help encourage, recognize, and promote exemplary doctoral level research that substantially contributes to the improvement of teacher education. Who May Submit?
Any person who has completed a doctoral dissertation in teacher education at an accredited Kansas college or university within the past two years OR any person who has completed a doctoral dissertation in the last two years and is now employed as a teacher educator by an accredited education institution in Kansas.

Who May Submit?
Any person who has completed a doctoral dissertation in teacher education at an accredited Kansas college or university within the past two years OR any person who has completed a doctoral dissertation in the last two years and is now employed as a teacher educator by an accredited education institution in Kansas.
What are the Criteria for Submission?
- The topic must be directly related to teacher education.
- Author does not need to be an active member of ATE-K at time of submission.
- The research reported must have been completed within the last two years
prior to the submission of the synopsis. - A synopsis of the dissertation must be submitted for screening. The document should be limited to 15-20 pages (double-spaced, APA format) and must be accompanied by a one-page abstract. The author should make every attempt to eliminate all identifiable references to individuals and places that might bias the reviewers.
- The deadline for receipt of the papers is February 1st, 2024 with award winner being announced at the Spring 2024 ATE-K/ KACTE conference.

How is the Submission Evaluated and Awarded?
- Each dissertation synopsis will be evaluated by a panel of ATE-K dissertation committee
members. - The ATE-K dissertation awardee will be encouraged, but not required, to forward their manuscript to the national ATE dissertation award competition.
- The recipient of the ATE-K award will receive a $250.00 check at the ATE-K Spring Conference the year award is made.
- The award recipient will be provided time for a research presentation at the following year's ATE-K/ KACTE Spring Conference and will be provided free conference registration.
- Award winner will be provided a free one-year membership to ATE-K for the following academic year.
